Ilya and Emilia Kabakov are the most influential contemporary living Russian artists. They were born in Russia respectively in 1933 and 1946. Since the early 1990s they have collaborated to make complex installations that combine references to history, art, literature and philosophy. Kabakovs’ work is included in the collections of most of the world’s major museums (MoMA, New York, Tate Modern, London and The Pompidou in Paris). They were selected several time for major international events such as the Venice Biennial (1993, 1995, 2003, 2007), the Singapore Biennial (2008).
